As many of you may (or may not) know, when I’m not sat behind a desk doing my full-time job, or doing Bookkeeping work, I volunteer as a Cub Scout Leader. I’ve been doing this for nearly two years and have met and helped developed some amazing young kids.
One such kid is Joe. He is such a kind, selfless and entertaining young man and he wants to raise money for charity. Earlier this year, Joe achieved his 600 metre swimming badge – that’s a little over a third of a mile – and he wants to challenge himself by swimming a mile in January! However he would like people like you and I to support him by donating to two brilliant charities: the 50th Northampton Scout Group and Cancer Research UK.
When asked why these specific charities, Joe said: “I chose Cancer Research because I think it is a horrible disease and I want to help them find a cure. I chose my Cub Scout Group as they would like to purchase parade flags and this will help go towards that.”
Now, bearing in mind that Joe is only 8 years old, I think this is a fantastic request.
So I ask you to please donate what you can by visiting his Crowdfunding page and spread the word to help him smash his target!
Morning all and Happy World Earth Day! (Although why is it called ‘World Earth’ Day when they are essentially the same thing? Anyway…)
April 22nd marks Earth Day and everyone around the world will make a more conscious effort to do ‘Acts of Green’. Whether this be recycling more of their trash, planting some trees or being a part of petition or movement to exact change, people will do something to begin saving our planet. And why shouldn’t they?
Not sure how many of my followers are American or others that even remembered the events that happened on April 19th 1995; 168 unfortunate souls lost their lives when two national extremists decided to bomb the Oklahoma City Federal building.
Former President Bill Clinton gave a moving memorial speech earlier today and many people have pondered over the acts of violence that have occurred over the years, both national and international.
While I don’t want to turn this into a big debate, I think everyone can agree that from time to time, when we see these sorts of tragedies occur, it makes us appreciate and value our lives and the lives of our loved ones. At any moment in time we can lose them….
Sombre thoughts but important ones nonetheless.
So I’m sure you’ve all heard the news regardless if you’re American or not: Hillary Clinton will be campaigning for President in 2016.
I’ve not read up on many reactions and reviews so I’m curious to hear yours? From what we know via the media – because let’s face it, there’s not many of us on here that know her personally – she seems like an alright gal. Her work during the Obama administration has been of such a great benefit in my opinion.
While I don’t feel she would’ve been suitable for the 2008 election and Obama being voted in was the right decision, I feel like now is her time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying my views are 100% or that I would even class myself as a strong political supporter but it’s interesting to see these sort of potential developments.
America has had her first Black President, how about its first Female President? What are your views and reactions? Please leave a comment below.
Firstly, apologies for my lack of posting in recent days.
Saturday may be the day that most people catch up with their week’s paperwork and especially with it being month-end, some may be busier than usual. So allow me to make a shameless plug and remind you of the services I offer. Not only do I offer support for any issues and maintenance with your PC – but I can also be that person to do that boring, paperwork for you.
As it is the Aviva Rugby Final (COYS!), you should be enjoying this amazing sporting day and have some time for yourself. If you want to be part of the masses, sitting back, shouting at the TV then please get in touch. Drop me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or visit the Facebook page and send me a quick message: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bookkeeper-Jade/881911555155367#
